Open Call: Design the 2024 Salem Art Fair & Festival Poster

Dear Artists and Designers,

We would like to invite you to participate in our open call for the design of the official poster for the 2024 Salem Art Fair and Festival taking place September 13-15. This is a fantastic opportunity for talented individuals to contribute to the rich history/legacy and diversity of artists that have shaped the visual identity of this beloved cultural event.

About the Salem Art Fair

The Salem Art Fair and Festival is a celebration of creativity, serving as a platform for artists, collectors, and enthusiasts to connect and appreciate contemporary art in all its forms. As one of the largest art fairs in the Pacific Northwest, the Salem Art Fair attracts over 20,000 visitors and showcases hundreds of artists from all over the country.

Submission Guidelines
  • Interested 2D, digital artists, and graphic designers are invited to submit a letter of interest in creating art for the Art Fair poster.
  • Along with the letter, please include examples of your artwork. This may include posters, fine art, illustrations, or any relevant projects that demonstrate your style and capabilities. This can be as an attached portfolio or a link to an online portfolio/website! We are NOT asking for your poster design at this stage.
  • Submissions should be sent via email to [email protected] with the subject line “Art Fair Poster Design Submission – [Your Name].”
  • The deadline for submissions is April 24.
Selection Process

The Art Fair Marketing committee will review all submissions and select an artist whose style and vision best align with the theme and goals of the Salem Art Fair. The Salem Art Fair has taken the Fair Art Pledge and welcomes all artists. Artists who identify as immigrants, refugees, disabled, LGBTQ+, people of color, veterans and/or rural artists are strongly encouraged to apply. The chosen designer will be notified directly and announced on our website and social media platforms. The artist will have 6 weeks to create artwork for the Salem Art Fair.

Recognition and Awards

The selected designer will receive:

  • A complimentary booth in a premium location at the Salem Art Fair and Festival (valued $550)
  • Recognition on all promotional materials, including the Art Fair website, social media channels, and press releases.
  • Complimentary tickets to the Art Fair Opening Reception (valued $98)
  • Invitation to a special unveiling event July 20, 2024
  • Original art will be on display in the Bush Barn Art Museum
Important Dates
  • Submission Deadline: April 24, 2024
  • Announcement of Selected Artist: April 30, 2024
  • Final Design Due: June 14, 2024
  • Poster Unveiling: July 20, 2024
  • Art Fair Dates: September 13-15, 2024
