Jill started Chipped Nail Polish with just her electric ukulele and a bad manicure. The project came to life in the basements and living rooms of the lively house show scene at the University of Oregon. The friendships formed there traveled up North to Portland where the band now resides.
Inspired by bands like Beach Bunny, Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, FIDLAR, and Surf Curse, CNP is heavily influenced by the moshy surf punk music of Jill’s teen years, as well as introspective bedroom pop that has captivated her twenties. The result kinda feels like crying in a mosh pit, which is always encouraged at shows.
